Auckland headquartered managed services and software development company Lancom Technology is opening its first office in the United States, to be led by chief revenue officer Jahan Kahusi.
Lancom intends to find new customers for its software development capabilities and expertise in hyperscale cloud computing, application modernisation and business process automation.
“This is the world’s biggest economy, and it is already very well serviced by existing providers,” said Lancom Technology CEO Priscila Bernardes.
“We’re well aware of these facts, however also confident on our proven track record enabling businesses unlock potential, through leveraging cloud solutions.”
Lancom was acquired by Evergreen Services Group in late 2023 as part of a programme of similar investments. Evergreen also operates Chicago-headquartered Lyra Technology Group.
Through that group, Lancom will become one of 77 managed services companies located in every state and major city in the United States.
Lyra A/NZ regional CEO and former Lancom CEO Waruna Kirimetiyawa said this offered a unique advantage.
“Breaking into the American market is no easy task, and few New Zealand service companies have successfully achieved real penetration here,” he said.
“In effect, we have the infrastructure and presence to be on the ground, with substantial resources, wherever our USA clients may need us.”
The managed services market in the United States is projected to reach around US$69.6 billion this year, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.8%, but that didn’t translate to ease of access, Bernardes said.
“We’re under no illusions that the task ahead is challenging. But Lancom Technology is built on a can-do attitude which also defines our USA operations.”
Kahusi’s hire brings extensive experience in developing the go-to-market and account management best practices for one of the largest AWS and Google Cloud consulting partners globally, Santa Clara California-based Doit.
“We have a unique opportunity where Lancom’s technical expertise, coupled with our growing partnerships, forms a strong foundation for success,” he said.
Bernardes said increasing demand for managed IT services was driven by factors such as digital transformation, cybersecurity needs and the shift to hybrid IT environments across various sectors.
“And those are all areas where we shine, with proven expertise in sectors including financial services, healthcare, logistics and distribution, retail, ISV/SaaS, and professional services, along with a strong focus on service and value optimisation,” she said.
Backed by advanced AWS and Microsoft credentials, the market sweet-spot for Lancom includes companies with over $30 million in revenue, 150 or more staff and digital or cloud-first approaches, the company said.
