Partnership brings sophisticated AI solutions to academic processes to increase research productivity
The Indian Insitute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) entered into a partnership with Cactus Communications (CACTUS) on February 27, 2025, to bring cutting-edge AI-based research tools to its students, professors, and researchers. IIMK will, through this tie-up, embed CACTUS’s AI suite, Editage Plus, within its academic platform, optimising research productivity and establishing the institute further as a benchmark in management research.
Being one of the first to adopt AI in academia, IIMK becomes the first Tier-1 business school in India to adopt Editage Plus’ AI-based solutions, paving the way for other schools. With this move, more than 2,500 faculty members at IIMK gain access to state-of-the-art tools, which include:
– Paperpal: AI-powered academic writing assistant used by more than two million researchers.
– R Discovery: A research reading and literature searching platform with over three million subscribers.
– Mind the Graph: A graphic illustrating tool utilised by over 100 premier institutions.
– Global Journal Database: A thorough journal discovery tool with over 43,000 authenticated journals.
IIM Kozhikode Director Professor Debashis Chatterjee emphasised the importance of this alliance, saying, “The incorporation of AI in academia is a revolutionary move towards the future of research and innovation. This partnership is a step in that direction and reflects our vision to create a research-oriented, technology-enabled learning space, empowering our students and faculty with top-of-the-line AI tools to maximise productivity and strengthen IIMK’s position as a global thought leader in management research.”
Akhilesh Ayer, CEO of Cactus Communications, seconded this view, saying, “We are delighted to partner with IIM Kozhikode, a globally recognised institution for its dedication to academic rigor and innovation. This association is a step closer to our mission to empower researchers with AI solutions to drive scientific advancement and knowledge sharing.”
