Luxury carmaker Bentley has decided it no longer needs its own top level domain name.
Bentley Motors Limited is terminating its dot-brand top level domain, .bentley.
The automotive company informed the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on December 13 that it planned to cancel its contract to run the domain. ICANN made a preliminary determination not to transfer the domain to another entity on February 15, kicking off a one-month comment period.
Bentley registered a handful of domains under .bentley, including extraordinaryjourneys.bentley, service.bentley, and events.bentley. As of February 15, these domains forwarded to pages on the company’s main website.
