Never worry about renewing your domain again, if you trust Automattic to do it for you.
100 Years on a decorative background
A couple of years after introducing a pre-paid, 100-year hosting package, WordPress.com’s parent company, Automattic, is offering 100-year domain registrations.
The ICANN-accredited registrar is offering 100-year domains in .com, .org, .net, and .blog. .Com and .net are managed by Verisign, .org by Public Interest Registry, and Automattic operates .blog.
What does it cost to lock in and not have to worry about a domain for 100 years? $2,000.
Of course, none of the registries can offer registrations for more than 10 years at a time. So registrants are counting on Automattic being around for 100 years and activing the renewals.
That might have been a better bet a year ago before Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg went on a scorched earth campaign to destroy his company’s and his personal reputation.
Automattic isn’t the first company to offer 100-year registrations. Network Solutions previously offered them. Epik offered “Forever Domains”,”which promised to renew domains forever, for $420.
Given how the latter example worked out for registrants, I’d proceed with caution.

Sounds like Rob Monster landed on his feet again.
Domains can only be renewed for 10 years maximum under ICANN rules.
What WordPress is offering here is an unregulated financial product.
