The Indonesian and Indian governments have formalized cooperation in the digital sector through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) and the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The signing was carried out by Meutya V. Hafid, Minister of Communication and Industry and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, in the presence of President Prabowo Subianto and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
This cooperation agreement includes the development of the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), development of public digital infrastructure such as digital identity, as well as improving human resource skills in the information technology (IT) sector.
“This collaboration is more than just a technology cooperation. It is a joint effort to connect people, transcend geographical boundaries, and drive innovation that is centered on the needs of the community,” Meutya said on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Then a Joint Working Group will be formed to ensure the successful implementation of the Indonesia and India agreement. Later, it will meet regularly to monitor the development of the program, address problems, and formulate solutions.
Meutya also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration between the government, private sector and society. According to her, this is the key to answering global challenges and opening up new opportunities for future generations.
