Mining Indaba: Korea-Africa dialogue to define critical minerals future – Mining Review Africa

As Mining Indaba 2025 approaches, government officials and business leaders from the Republic of Korea will join African mining ministers to discuss strategies for establishing impactful partnerships and creating sustainable supply chains for critical minerals, which are vital for future industries.
The discussion will be led by Hon. Kang Insun, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in South Korea, and is aimed at further advancing collaborative development in the critical minerals sector between Korea and African nations. The discussion will lay the groundwork for new projects that will benefit both regions while entrenching the concept of sustainability in mining practices.

In line with this year’s theme of “Future-Proofing African Mining, Today!”, the event will concentrate on tackling some of the most urgent challenges facing the mining industry while maximising Africa’s abundant mineral resources. It aims to unite industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to strategise on optimising domestic resource value and enhancing economic resilience.
With the global demand for critical minerals recently surging, this dialogue will present a grand opportunity for good solid cooperation between Korea and African nations.
Mining Indaba 2025 will be hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 to 6 February 2025, with even deeper discussions into exciting investments which promise to lead growth across the continent.
