Ollie Bye begins with this video looking at the entire continent from ancient times to the present day with every year being tracked from 600 CE:

Meanwhile, Prussian Mapping has a more detailed look at just North Africa starting in the year 643:

Jake Mapping has created three maps – the first looking at West Africa from the year 690:

The second map looks at the Horn of Africa area from ancient times, with year-by-year coverage starting in 896:

The third map just focuses on Morocco, beginning in the year 744:

Finally, we return to Ollie Bye, who created this video to track the Mali Empire between the years 1235 and 1610:
