Liquid Intelligent and Eutesalat to provide satellite services in Africa – Techpoint Africa

Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, stated that the collaboration with Eutelsat will bring LEO services to customers across the continent, providing high-speed solutions and new connectivity options.
This new development comes just a month after Seacom, a telecommunications and subsea cable provider, launched LEO satellite service in South Africa, utilising Eutelsat OneWeb to provide regional services.
Satellite services have recently gained traction, with many technology companies entering the sector. For example, Elon Musk’s Starlink, the world’s largest LEO provider, serves over eight African countries. 
Besides, a report shows that the African space economy will be valued at $19.49 billion in 2021, with a projected growth rate of 16.16% to $22.64 billion by 2026. 
In March 2024, Omnispace, a US company, partnered with MTN Group to investigate using S-band satellite services to broaden mobile operators’ wireless service portfolios in their respective markets.
In February 2024, Eutelsat Group and South African satellite enterprise Q-KON deployed the first operational Eutelsat OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite service in Africa.
The Q-KON Twoobii Smart Satellite Services installation provides a consistent Internet connection speed of 50 megabits per second (Mbps) with minimal latency while also serving as a backup in the event of a hardware or power supply failure.   
Avanti Communications also announced the launch of Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity services in South Africa on May 14, 2024, in partnership with Q-KON to provide seamless LEO connectivity from Eutelsat OneWeb. 
In 2022, Telesat announced a strategic partnership with Liquid Intelligent Technologies to bring Telesat Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services to Africa.
