FERGUSON, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The Ferguson community is in shock after someone entered a North County virtual meeting and verbally attacked the committee with racial slurs and hate speech.
“I’m just sick and tired of N words killing whites,” said the suspect.
On Tuesday, a person with the name “Albert” entered the meeting with the camera off during the Ferguson Human Rights Commission Zoom session. The unknown individual called one commissioner a monkey while spewing derogatory remarks.
Police are now investigating to find out who is responsible.
“We should go back to the 1950s when N words knew their place,” the suspect said. “Diversity means fewer White people. Inclusion means the exclusion of White people, and equity means stealing from White people. “
“If you’re man enough to say it, then be man enough to own it and turn yourself in,” said Ferguson Mayor Ella Jones.
On Friday, Mayor Jones stood united with the St. Louis County NAACP to denounce the remarks and demand accountability in the court of law.
“It definitely falls under the category of hate speech, which falls under hate crime,” said St. Louis County NAACP Chapter President John Bowman.
“I’m not going to take it, and I’m not going to stand for it. You picked the wrong city, ” Mayor Jones said.
The Ferguson Human Rights Commission was born following the death of Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by a police officer in 2014.
The committee was discussing housing when they were interrupted by the racist rant.
“They were very harsh. They’re very hateful, so there is no way that we should take this as another comment being made,” said Bowman. “We have to make sure this person is brought to the light.”
The racist outburst comes as the Missouri Attorney General has launched an investigation into Hazelwood School District’s diversity programs. The announcement was made following a high school fight between two high schoolers that has since gone viral.
