X’s Samiran Gupta has joined ICANN as the Vice President, Government and IGO Engagement APAC & Stakeholder Engagement South Asia. This is his second stint with the organisation.
Gupta had earlier joined ICANN in 2014 as Head of India, where he established ICANN’s in-country engagement in India. In Jan 2022, he was elevated as the head of stakeholder engagement, South Asia.
He moved on from ICANN to join Twitter (now X) in Feb 2022 as the Senior Director, Global Government Affairs, India and South Asia. Gupta led Twitter/X’s overall vision on key content-related policy issues.
He has also had a close to four year long stint with APCO Worldwide as Senior Director and was the Managing Director for Access India Advisors for over 15 years.
“I have received many messages congratulating me on rejoining ICANN. I am very grateful for your good wishes and look forward to a new chapter of my career unfolding,” Gupta wrote, as he acknowledged his former colleagues at X, in a LinkedIn post.

SBI Capital Markets Limited (SBICAPS) announced today that Virendra Bansal has been appointed as the new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of SBICAPS – the wholly owned subsidiary and investment banking arm of State Bank of India (SBI). Prior to this, he was the Country Head for the US Operations of SBI, which included its offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo and Washington DC.
Virendra Bansal replaces Rajay Kumar Sinha who has been appointed as the Whole Time Member (Finance and Investment) of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for a period of three years in January 2024.
Bansal has also worked as the Chief Executive Officer, SBI New York Branch and Vice-Chairman of SBI (California) a US Retail Banking subsidiary of the Bank. He has also worked in SBI UK operations as Head (Trade) and Head of retail branch handling high net worth customers. In a career spanning over three decades with SBI, Shri Bansal has handled several important assignments in diverse areas of Credit, International Banking and Retail Banking. He brings in global expertise and experience that will further help strengthen SBICAPS’ investment banking business in India and overseas.

B. Ramanathan is returning to Ogilvy India as Chief Client Officer, sources have told exchange4media. With nearly three decades of experience in the industry, Ramanathan brings a wealth of knowledge and a profound understanding of the advertising business.
As per his social profile on LinkedIn, Ramanathan started his journey with Ogilvy in 2000. From playing pivotal roles in Chennai and Hyderabad offices for eight years to leading Mumbai office as the Managing Partner from 2009. Ram has been a part of the agency’s growth narrative to date.
In 2022, Ramanathan was promoted as Chief Marketing Officer for Ogilvy Asia where he was the Global Brand Leader for Mondelez. Before the promotion, he was the Group CEO at Ogilvy Indonesia from 2019. He was the Chief Executive Officer for Ogilvy Indonesia and Bates CHI & Partners Indonesia for almost three years prior to that.
