Sanjay Shah, CEO and founder of a US-based revenue management company, plunged to his death Thursday during his company’s anniversary party.
Shah was performing inside an iron cage when part of the chain holding it snapped during his appearance on stage, reported News.com.au. The company was celebrating Vistex Asia’s silver jubilee at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India.
The CEO fell over 15 feet to the concrete ground along with the company’s vice president Raju Dalta, who was inside with him in the metal cage, according to the police.
“Suddenly, one of the two wires attached to the cage snapped. Both plunged more than 15 feet and landed on the concrete dias. This caused multiple injuries. At the time of the accident, music was being played and Shah and Raju were waving to their staff while being lowered,” sub-inspector D Karunakar Reddy at the Abdullapurmet police department told the Times of India.
Dalta was severely injured and remains in serious condition at the hospital, according to the Daily Mail, which published a video of the incident, showing Shah falling to his death.
Shah, a tech entrepreneur from Mumbai, developed Vistex, which has 20 offices around the globe and serves GM, Barilla, Coca Cola, Dell, and Bayer.
