In unveiling the first-ever domain name system seamlessly supported by browsers, email, and wallets, My.box Inc. is pleased to reveal the official launch of its Public Beta.
Scheduled for Jan 18th, 2024, the launch of the .box domains promises to redefine digital identity on both Web3 and Web2 platforms.
Following its design, .box domains promise secure and seamless identity and empower users with decentralized ownership, enabling control over DNS record management, ENS integration, payments, Web3 authentication, messaging, websites, and email. According to .box Founder Josh Brandley, “We are the first to tie it all together with a powerful, easy-to-use product.”
Addressing a critical flaw in blockchain domain systems, .box sets a new standard by being ICANN-accredited and recognized by the global Domain Name System (DNS). Unlike its counterparts, it seamlessly collaborates with traditional browsers and email services, bridging the gap between decentralized identity, blockchain domains, and core infrastructure.
Furthermore, The .box Top-Level Domain (TLD) is owned and operated by Intercap Registry, an ICANN Accredited Registry Operator with over a decade of commitment to .box’s development.
Core partnerships with 3DNS and ENS Labs highlight the shared vision of bringing Web3 benefits to the domain industry. Nick Johnson, Founder of ENS, expresses excitement about the unique .box implementation, emphasizing its seamless interoperability with existing systems.
In a bid to ensure fair access for everyone, .box domains will undergo a premium pricing phase during launch. Starting at $7,680 USDC, prices will decay exponentially for six days until stabilizing at a fixed rate of $120 USDC.
Renewals will consistently be priced at 120 USDC per year, with domains minted and managed through the user-friendly dApp hosted at my.box. Payment options include ETH or USDC.
