Hesa’s workforce survey reveals the changing face of UK academia
A lot of attention in recent months (and years) has rightly been given to the changing nature of the international student makeup in the UK. It is central to universities’ business models and inherently subject to the whims of government.
We know, for example, that following Brexit, the number of students coming to the UK from the EU plummeted as relations soured and fees soared. Institutions particularly reliant on recruitment from China will be keeping a keen eye on what happens in the aftermath of elections in Taiwan, which have potential ramifications for east-west diplomacy.
