In the age of internet of things, what else can we make smart?
We have smart watches, smart cars, smart phones and smart fridges, in this article, I would like to explore the world of internet of things. It seems people have stoppped using that buzzword as if it is no longer relevant. However, that was one of the turn of the century fads (unlike cryptocurrency and nfts) that did not implode into scams and market crashes. People actually did develop the technology to go along with the ideas surrounding this concept. Out of the brainchildren of internet of things we got devices that led to huge markets such as:
Ring doorbell camera
Fitbit
Alexa
Smart TVs
Smart Home
Smart thermostat
Smart lighting
Smart rings
and so much more. It seems like the internet of things is here to stay. So, I'd like to explore some other possible things that we could potential "smarten up" around here. How about, smart clothes? What if your shirt could report how much you were sweating or if it needed a wash? How about if your belt could send you notifications about your internal organs? What if your jeans had sensors in them that identified and regulated the temperature so you never got too hot or too cold in them?
Smart Books – Sure, we've got e-books and e-readers, but what if we had smart books made of smart paper that used digital technology embedded in it? Smart paper is already a technology in existence and in use in some spaces.
Smart Medication Dispenser – A simple and uncomplicated medication dispenser that is easy to use for people with alzheimer's disease or other mental health conditions would be a godsend. If you could just pour your medications into it when you get a refill from the pharmacy, and wave your hand or cup under it for the dispensation of your pills. Especially if it knows not to give you medication outside of programmed times of day, and perhaps it could beep when the person is due to take a new set of pills for the day. I would not be surprised if this already exists.
One of the promises of internet of things is that our whole world will one day be totally interconnected by the internet, and with advances in artificial intelligence and computing we seem to be moving closer and closer to a possible singularity.
What do you think is possible?

You are enough.
