PRESS RELEASE
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 8, 2009 — Infoblox Inc. today announced that it will host a webinar on Wednesday, June 10th, 2009, including three of the world's leading authorities on the domain name system (DNS) and network security.
Many security researchers are expressing growing alarm over the state of DNS security. Every network professional needs to understand DNS security and how the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), a suite of IETF specifications for securing information provided by DNS, may impact their organization.
Security researcher and webinar presenter Dan Kaminsky commented: "The lack of DNS security not only makes the Internet vulnerable, but is also crippling the scalability of important security technologies. DNSSEC offers the most feasible solution to a serious threat."
And, underscoring the importance of DNS security and DNSSEC, implementation of DNSSEC is now mandated for U.S. Federal government agencies by December 2009.
In this webinar, presenters will share their perspectives on the latest DNS security issues and challenges, as well as DNSSEC and where it fits within an overall DNS security framework. Attendees also will learn about what they will need to do now and later to plan for DNSSEC adoption.
Webinar presenters to include:
Cricket Liu " Vice President of Architecture for Infoblox and author of O'Reilly Media's best-selling series of books on DNS;
Dan Kaminsky " Director of Penetration Testing at IO Active who exposed the "Kaminsky DNS vulnerability" last summer and who is now advocating implementation of DNSSEC; and
Scott Rose " Lead investigator on the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) DNSSEC deployment project and the co-author of the NIST Special Publication 800-81 on secure DNS.
Cricket Liu commented: "With this webinar, we hope that we can inform and educate IT managers and network administrators about pressing security concerns and the promise DNSSEC holds for addressing some of the biggest issues as well as offer some deployment considerations and options."
Scott Rose added: "Addressing the most recent and serious DNS vulnerabilities requires a globally coordinated effort; I am pleased to participate in this event to help increase awareness of the issues with the global DNS and possibilities that DNSSEC offers to help secure the Internet worldwide."
