The Basque Internet domain ‘eus’ was approved by ICANN. It is an initiative driven by the PuntuEus Foundation, in April 2014 the domain was launched and in June the first sites were activated. The PuntuEus Foundation had been working for six years to gain control. They stated: “The result has come from years of work and a process that has called for patience. International recognition of the Basque people: .EUS is a world-class Internet domain, that is, a global tool for local community development.”
