Pune: How does one identify the right kind of influencer or a community for the right brand, or how can aerial attacks on artillery tanks be tracked and targeted?
These and more topics are what faculty members of College of Engineering Pune Technological University are working on as part of research projects for several organisations, vice-chancellor Sunil Bhirud said at a press interaction on Tuesday.
The project on developing a scaled-down prototype and generic control model for tracking aerial attacks called ‘Feasibility Analysis and Experimental Study of Turret Gun Control System’ has been given Rs 99.6 lakh by the ministry of defence. SS Ohol, associate professor from the mechanical engineering department, will be working on it for the next three years.
Pramod Chaudhari, chairman of board of governors, CoEP Tech University spoke about new courses being introduced in the university. “To prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence, it is important to impart knowledge about public policy to the students of engineering. We have signed an MoU with Flame University and its experts will teach subjects related to public policies to our engineering students. Our experts will impart knowledge of the latest technology, AI & ML to students of Flame University,” he added.
Bhirud said an MTech in transportation planning will be introduced for 18 students next academic year. “Working professionals and govt officials want the course,” he added.
Associate professor SS Pardeshi is working on agricultural revitalisation in higher education institutions in Asian Countries and another associate professor Vahida Attar is working on data curation for video surveillance and precision agriculture datasets.
