
Manufacturer looks to challenge Chinese players on the continent

TOKYO — Daikin Industries intends to rank among the "top three" in Africa for room air conditioners "in the next three to five years," a senior executive for the Japanese manufacturer told Nikkei Asia in a recent interview.
The company already holds the biggest share in air conditioners for offices and commercial buildings in East Africa, the executive said, even though its overall share in Africa is just around 2%.
