Commonwealth Fountainheads, DNS/VMJ’s Rookies secure wins – Herald Goa

MARGAO: Commonwealth Fountainheads crushed MLT Cricket Club by 62 runs on the 12th day of the 7th edition of Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25, at Arlem ground, while in the second match, DNS / VMJ’s Rookies cruised past SinQ Rangers by 7 wickets and 21 balls to spare.
In the first match, Commonwealth Fountainheads opting to bat set a solid foundation with an opening stand of 49 runs in 4.4 overs. Skipper Amod Borkar led the charge with a blistering 38 off 19 balls (six fours), supported by Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar (17). Contributions from Aditya Prabhugaonkar (16), Amey Rajadhyax (38), and a late surge from Saish Hegde (25 not out) and Raghuvir Gharse (12) propelled the team to 178/8. MLT’s bowlers, led by Manish Kakode (2-14) and Dattaraj Pai Fondekar (2-19), managed to grab wickets but couldn’t stem the flow of runs.
Chasing 179, MLT began brightly, scoring 21 in the first over, but the batting collapsed thereafter. Only Adv. Sachin Sardesai (26) and Siddhesh Bodke (30) offered resistance as the team crumbled to 116 in 14.3 overs. Aditya Prabhugaonkar starred with the ball, claiming 4-13, while Saish Hegde and Yash Prabhugaonkar picked up two wickets each.
The win catapulted the Fountainheads to the top of the points table, securing Vimson Panjim Powerplay’s exit from the tournament. MLT, with 8 points, now face a must-win final league game to reach the semi-finals.

In the second match, DNS/VMJ’s Rookies kept their semi-final hopes alive with a comfortable seven-wicket win over SinQ Rangers.
SinQ, batting first, managed 145/6 in their 20 overs. Skipper Sahil Adwalpalkar top-scored with 35, while Kaushik Pai Fondekar added an unbeaten 28 off 21 balls. For the Rookies, Ved Mahambre was the standout bowler with 2-15, supported by one wicket each from Aghan Bhandare, Pratham Kossambe, Mihir Gaitonde, and Sukrut Pai.
In reply, the Rookies’ chase was spearheaded by Eeshan Kamat (38), Rupesh Kossambe (26), and Ved Mahambre (26). Finishing touches came from Sukrut Pai (18*) and Rajaram Kundaikar (13*), who sealed the win with 21 balls to spare. SinQ’s Sanat Mhapne took a lone wicket in a losing effort.
