Celebrating Benin's Vodun heritage – Eye on Africa – FRANCE 24 English

For the second year in a row, the city of Ouidah in Benin is playing host to Vodun Days – a celebration of the region’s long spiritual traditions. France 24’s correspondent Lilaafa Amouzou visited the festival and found out about efforts to dismantle myths about Vodon.
Also in the programme, a stark new figure from the United Nations. More than 100,000 people have been displaced in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo since the start of this year alone. It’s amid a fresh offensive by the rebel group M23.
And Zimbabwe’s severe drought is proving catastrophic for wildlife. Nineteen hippos have died in the past three months. The country’s wildlife authority says it’s most likely due to food shortages linked to the dry conditions.
