Parties will work with all stakeholders to deliver suggestions for UDRP review. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Internet Commerce Association (ICA) announced a joint review of UDRP today.
The parties will bring together representatives of all aspects of cybersquatting cases: A UDRP forum, lawyers that specialize in representing complainants and respondents, panelists, a domain investor, and a brand representative. It will also include an ICANN board member.
Additionally, the group will coordinate with other stakeholders, including registrars, registries, and more brandholder representatives, to provide a balanced perspective.
The goal is to provide a report to aid ICANN’s own review of UDRP.
The fact that the ICA, which represents domain investors, has partnered with WIPO shows a growing maturity in the relationship between the parties.
While domain investors often gripe about UDRP, it is a mostly fair way to quickly resolve cybersquatting disputes. The vast majority of cases are not controversial, and I believe both parties don’t think a significant overhaul of UDRP is needed.

Idea: Full Panel option is free for Respondents who are the target of a UDRP.
All costs related to UDRP should be borne by the Complainant.
