The Awards Ceremony for the 2024 Academia Sinica Early-Career Investigator Research Achievement Award was held on December 9 (Monday), hosted by Academia Sinica President James C. Liao. This year, five awardees were selected for the award: two from the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, one from the Division of Life Sciences, and two from the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. Each awardee will be given a medal, a prize of NT$300,000, and a research grant of NT$300,000.
The Early-Career Investigator Research Achievement Award was established to encourage young scholars in Taiwan to conduct in-depth research that makes significant contributions to their fields. A total of 81 applications were received this year: 37 from the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, 19 from the Division of Life Sciences, and 25 from the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. All submissions were strictly reviewed through pre-screening, initial review, secondary review, and final review. Intense competition resulted in the selection of the outstanding awardees.
Taiwan has a relatively small number of national-level awards dedicated to scholars at the early stages of their careers. Since its establishment over two decades ago, this award has gained widespread recognition within the academic community. Many past recipients have continued to excel in their fields, earning additional accolades throughout their careers.
