We need accurate data and analysis to understand how the Internet is evolving to protect it from the forces that threaten it. Internet Society Pulse consolidates trusted, third-party Internet data from many sources into a single website.
The platform offers insights and data-driven stories and examines global Internet trends to help journalists, policymakers, civil society organizations, and everyone in between understand the Internet’s health, availability, and evolution. We currently present metrics on Internet technologies, Internet shutdowns, Internet resilience, and market concentration.
No matter how long they last, Internet shutdowns have a devastating impact on the economy. They disrupt productivity, prevent e-commerce, and increase unemployment. The Internet Society has developed the Pulse NetLoss calculator to provide a way to estimate the economic impact of an Internet shutdown on a country and to demonstrate that they do more harm than good.
