As ICANN continues its preparations for the next round of TLD applications, the organization is hiring to fill roles that will help with these new domain name extensions and applications.
Last week, ICANN posted a job opportunity on LinkedIn that might be of interest to someone who currently works in the domain name space. ICANN is looking to hire a GDD Services Manager. GDD is an acronym for ICANN’s for Global Domains Division. This role appears to be similar in nature to an account management role.
Here’s an excerpt about this position from the job post:
“The GDD Accounts and Services team is looking for a self-motivated individual to define and document service requirements and support the delivery of these services to the registry operators and registrars. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and have a strong aptitude to solve complex problems. The GDD Services Manager must be able to conduct independent research and analysis while collaborating with our partners in other departments to quickly diagnose service-related problems and propose recommended solutions. We strive to deliver win-win-win solutions for the contracted parties, ICANN org, and the global internet community.”
Domain industry experience is not a requirement, but it is listed as being beneficial to the applicant. Working in a “related industry” for six years is something the organization would like to have in this new hire. The posted annual salary range for this position is $82,000 – $110,000. The person who is hired for this position will be based in ICANN’s Los Angeles, California offices.
I suspect there are going to be more job opportunities at ICANN in the coming months as the application and launch periods for the next round of extensions gets closer.
I think I am a potential candidate for this job, even I have experience in domain industry and managing the domains, registrars, and tools. Not sure if they allow me to apply from abroad. I can move.
